Diageo plc is a British multinational beverage alcohol company, with its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. They operate in more than 180 countries and produce in more than 140 sites around the world. It was the world's largest distiller until being overtaken by China's Kweichow Moutai on 9 April 2017. It is also a major producer of beer.
John Glenday wrote a piece for THE DRUM explaining How Diageo accused of backing ‘deceptive’ Instagram influencer campaign:
Drinks giant Diageo stands accused of spearheading a "deceptive" Instagram influencer marketing campaign for Ciroc Vodka and brandy without openly disclosing the commercial nature of the posts. The US promotional activity was underscored by non-profit watchdog Truth In Advertising (TINA) which claimed that as many as 1,700 posts written by a group of 50 influencers had flouted US ad laws by omitting "clear and conspicuous disclosures" of the influencers' material connection to the alcohol brand as required by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)’. Among the celebrities falling foul of the regulations were rapper Puff Daddy, Guardians of the Galaxy actor Mikaela Hoover and US singer Cassie, none of whom TINA said made clear that they were being paid for the posts. TINA executive director Bonnie Patten commented: “It’s time that Diageo starts acting like the responsible corporate citizen it says it is. And if it needs help learning how to comply with the law, TINA.org is confident that the FTC can teach the spirits giant the lessons it needs to learn.” A Diageo spokesperson said: “We have a rigorous marketing code and take our role as a responsible marketer very seriously and have a strong commitment to comply with the FTC’s standards on advertising. We are investigating this as a matter of urgency.” Diageo recently joined a drinks industry alliance which could enable people to opt out of online alcohol ads.

Saw colleagues being bullied, being disrespected and blackmailed! Union had to be involved several times! Morning Meetings are held to expose/point the problems in the company, what the staff are struggling with nd managers take this as a personal and offensive criticism and don t even care to what the staff are saying. Lack of maturity and professionalism of the management make the environment worse. Opportunities are given in a preferencial way, which is not fair on the rest of the staff that have been working as much as the otheres."

Other branches of Diageo are wonderful but the North American leadership is nothing short of sociopathic, dishonest and brutal. Do not waste anytime on this location. If you work in an office doing marketing or whatever, then you'll be fine no doubt. Working on one of their distillery or malting sites in Scotland, however, is a very different story. As a dismissed employee who lasted less than a year, I can say the only thing that impressed me about them was how awful they truly were. I could not have imagined it from such a big and well known business with such famous brands. They are now run by young, clueless and ruthless management who are only interested in colouring in red and green circles on a chart. I was dismissed after making an honest mistake, and they put more effort into the investigation and disciplinary process, than helping to do the job they hired me for. They cannot start a witch-hunt quickly enough when something goes wrong and you are grossly over-punished. I am just the latest in a huge line of people who have been pushed out over the years, some of whom, have done next to nothing. The GMB trade union deals with more dismissals from this company than any other, which says it all. Their arrogance and self-righteousness are astounding. I would not wish them on anyone and am so sorry for almost everyone who works in their Distillation & Maturation business, at least.Where to even begin"
