Diageo Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Diageo plc is a British multinational beverage alcohol company, with its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. They operate in more than 180 countries and produce in more than 140 sites around the world. It was the world's largest distiller until being overtaken by China's Kweichow Moutai on 9 April 2017. It is also a major producer of beer.

John Glenday wrote a piece for THE DRUM explaining How Diageo accused of backing ‘deceptive’ Instagram influencer campaign:

Drinks giant Diageo stands accused of spearheading a "deceptive" Instagram influencer marketing campaign for Ciroc Vodka and brandy without openly disclosing the commercial nature of the posts. The US promotional activity was underscored by non-profit watchdog Truth In Advertising (TINA) which claimed that as many as 1,700 posts written by a group of 50 influencers had flouted US ad laws by omitting "clear and conspicuous disclosures" of the influencers' material connection to the alcohol brand as required by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)’. Among the celebrities falling foul of the regulations were rapper Puff Daddy, Guardians of the Galaxy actor Mikaela Hoover and US singer Cassie, none of whom TINA said made clear that they were being paid for the posts. TINA executive director Bonnie Patten commented: “It’s time that Diageo starts acting like the responsible corporate citizen it says it is. And if it needs help learning how to comply with the law, TINA.org is confident that the FTC can teach the spirits giant the lessons it needs to learn.” A Diageo spokesperson said: “We have a rigorous marketing code and take our role as a responsible marketer very seriously and have a strong commitment to comply with the FTC’s standards on advertising. We are investigating this as a matter of urgency.” Diageo recently joined a drinks industry alliance which could enable people to opt out of online alcohol ads.

"Management is so dysfunctional and political that your not sure how decisions are actually made. There is a lack of strategic insight from arrogant and pompous senior management teams that makes the place toxic. Save your career."

Current Employee - Vice President GDBS North America says

"It's amazing the wasted capital placed into disastrous global Diageo business services. Management goes on events and social spending using corporate funds while funding is cut for good projects. Our department had 5 expatriate employees within the past 2 years. Budgeting 500k each plus benefits on a company looking to cut spending. 1 expatriate quit after 4 months due to the lock of viable guidance by management."

says

"too British, too much thinking over things, not very focused and direct organization, too much politics, no development career plan,"

Former Employee - Front of House says

"Worked in the Guinness Storehouse and I witnessed the worst abusive behaviours from the TL s and managers. Saw colleagues being bullied, being disrespected and blackmailed! Union had to be involved several times! Morning Meetings are held to expose/point the problems in the company, what the staff are struggling with nd managers take this as a personal and offensive criticism and don t even care to what the staff are saying. Lack of maturity and professionalism of the management make the environment worse. Opportunities are given in a preferencial way, which is not fair on the rest of the staff that have been working as much as the otheres."

"Don't work there! Bad news. . . Worst job of my life Run by the union Dysfunctional organization Achievers and over achievers run to the competition"

Audit Clerk (Former Employee) says

"If your not a union employee then your out of luck for ever being hired on as a direct employee. Very inconsistent hours for temps and some days you dont work at all. Not worth the time and effort. Hard to pay bills and maintain your finances as a temp employee."

warehouseman (Former Employee) says

"Dark dank warerhouses smelling of urine with yellow tape warning employees that asbestos is present ( Diageo tape does not keep your employees or customers from the dangers of asbestos) . Full of brown nosing employees willing to throw fellow employees to the sharks for the promise of a full time post as work was limited to three weeks in four on rotation whilst new people were being employed every week.If possible steer clear of this company.noneToo many to list"

Manager (Former Employee) says

"The senior leadership needs to look internally at what is happening with the organizational culture. There is no job security, employee are placed in roles and then terminated. Strategy needs to be set longer term and employee loyalty should be looked at. DIAGEO has great brands but the culture definitely needs improvement."

Warehouse Worker (Current Employee) says

"Company/management team that doesn’t care or respect they employees of they family’s.Nuffing matters to the leadership team but run run no matter whatNuffingEverything"

Undisclosed (Former Employee) says

"This company is successful in spite of itself and not because of itself. Horrible working environment that pits employees against managers and nothing is confidential. Communication is done with extreme paranoia and nothing ever gets done. Leadership is threatened with constantly losing their jobs and women are drastically underpaid when compared to men. Other branches of Diageo are wonderful but the North American leadership is nothing short of sociopathic, dishonest and brutal. Do not waste anytime on this location. You will be sorry for the time you lose.Learning to survive in an unsurvivable environmentAll of them"

Customer Services Executive (Former Employee) says

"Got a temporary position with Diageo through a recruitment agency. I was promised by the recruitment agency that Diageo would keep me on. Turns out to be complete lies as Diageo confirmed that my contract would be coming to an end after only 2 months. Now I'm left unemployed once again. Would not recommend."

Production Operative (Former Employee) says

"Avoid Diageo Leven at all costs, the Management all employ there own friends and families., say anything about it, that's you bullied. out the door. This practice makes working in this company, a nightmare, say anything and its straight to the bullying management.(probably every chance someone whose listening to you is a girlfriend/mum/wife/dad etc of the bosses. You will be shocked at how many of the managements families are actually employed there, for being such a company that spouts all these values and ethics all the time. So if were you!!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS, promotion goes to family members/as does new jobs etc. SO YOU PROBABLY WONT GET INTO DIAGEO LEVEN ANYWAY!!! (Unless your related to them of course lol)Free Tea/Coffee/Good Pay/Drink AllowanceNepotism/Bullying/Bad Management"

slave (Current Employee) says

"pay is good. that's all that's good waste a lot of time on use less p[programs no follow thru from management.. its easy to get fired. no short term disability. union not on top of things. bad work environment all around."

Innovation & Demand Planning Lead (Former Employee) says

"There is no work life balance and people quit their management not the company The company promises something but do not live up to that. Work culture and management not very great and not supportive. No decision making to the employee and you cannot take initiatives as its not appreciated."

Demand Planning Manager - Global Travel (Former Employee) says

"not for people looking for stability, security and advancement. the environment is very challenging and cold. there is non-stop organizational changes and turmoil."

Operator (Former Employee) says

"Put simply, Diageo are a horrid and incredibly nasty organisation who treat their staff like dirt. If you work in an office doing marketing or whatever, then you'll be fine no doubt. Working on one of their distillery or malting sites in Scotland, however, is a very different story. As a dismissed employee who lasted less than a year, I can say the only thing that impressed me about them was how awful they truly were. I could not have imagined it from such a big and well known business with such famous brands. They are now run by young, clueless and ruthless management who are only interested in colouring in red and green circles on a chart. I was dismissed after making an honest mistake, and they put more effort into the investigation and disciplinary process, than helping to do the job they hired me for. They cannot start a witch-hunt quickly enough when something goes wrong and you are grossly over-punished. I am just the latest in a huge line of people who have been pushed out over the years, some of whom, have done next to nothing. The GMB trade union deals with more dismissals from this company than any other, which says it all. Their arrogance and self-righteousness are astounding. I would not wish them on anyone and am so sorry for almost everyone who works in their Distillation & Maturation business, at least.Where to even begin"

Team Leader (Former Employee) says

"Team leaders are always thrown under the union bus by management and they want them to lead!!!!!!! Management plays by employees and workers and hunt for discipline!!!:(Good moneyBad life poisoning environment"

Processing Team Lead (Former Employee) says

"Management could care less about you, they were not supportive. Not an engaging environment. Was not happy there at all. If you work nights you are completely forgotten."

Production Operative (Former Employee) says

"The nepotism shown within this establishment is quite simply disgusting! I've seen hardworking temps give there all for 10 plus years on a zero hour contract but still not hired fulltime them managements relatives swarm in with a lazy attitude and are rewarded with a contract within months! Shouldn't happen in this day and age. Diageo have spent time, money and effort writing up a code of conduct book and their management should read it and learn from it! Equal opportunities they say? Definitely not with this company that's for sure. Disappointing for a massive global company who claim to offer equalityGreat pay for unskilled jobNo job security for temps and full of 2 faced backstabbing people"

impulsadora (Former Employee) says

"Mi experiencia en diageo es desagradable, ahora la empresa diageo es el cliente de overall, según mi experiencia las supervisoras que recién han ascendido se toman las atribuciones de despedir al personal por pequeños detalles. Y mencionan que personal tienen y bastante. Yo no estoy para aguantar malos tratos de superisores, ni de asistentes de la misma campaña en overall con diageo.-----malos tratos de supervisoras"
